I’m Ryan Haag, a certified Ubiquiti Trainer and Authorized Training Instructor with the Project Management Institute.

I spent 20 years in the Navy as a Cryptologist, where I worked on submarines, surveillance aircraft, surface ships and more than a few large staff commands. After traveling the world and serving in more than a few war zones, I realized my future in the Navy was going to be stacks of paperwork, so I retired to pursue other endeavors.

I got started in networking when my church needed a reliable streaming camera during the COVID-19 pandemic. My church didn’t have any sort of network to support a network camera, so with a small donation from a caring parishioner, I installed a Ubiquiti network and an automated streaming camera. That little job quickly ballooned into multiple requests from churches for streaming cameras, WiFi, VOIP phones, and door controls. I found my niche in serving the underserved, especially churches and small businesses that large IT firms tended to ignore.

More importantly, I realized that churches and small businesses wanted an IT professional to explain their network gear to them in a way that they could later maintain their own systems. Ubiquiti, with its easy-to-use interface, was a perfect fit, and I found it enjoyable to teach people how to get the most out of their network. That’s when I met Eric and Nancy and asked them if they had room for me to teach and consult for WiFi-U, which has been a blessing ever since.
